Elen
“Pecking order” is a very real thing in the chicken world, and poor Elen was at the bottom of it at her previous home.
All the other chickens picked on her for months until her family decided she needed a new home. When we got her she only had two little tail feathers and her vent (hind end) had been badly pecked and damaged. Pretty sure Morgan thought an angel just arrived. He was madly in love from the second he saw her.
Elen is a shy, timid, tiny girl but has grown into the flock quite well. She also is an adventurer and loves running around the yard searching for bugs and worms or taking a bath in her dirt holes she has created. She runs in the barn right after you clean it, kicking all the fresh straw around looking for seeds and yummy things to eat. Wherever Morgan is, you can find Elen. When its time to lay she will squawk at the top of her lungs until Morgan comes to guard her.
