Help Chino Build Ridge 2 River Animal Haven

Do you have a dog or cat that you love? Did you rescue it? Or maybe you feel that it rescued you?

Seeming all too much like it was meant to be... my husband and I recently were lucky enough to cross paths with Chino, this handsome goat, who was in need of a home. He was all alone, underweight, had a horrible case of lice, and his hooves were in very poor condition. So, without much hesitation we brought him home knowing with a little help we could give him the life he deserved. We immediately scheduled a vet appointment so he could be vaccinated, treated for his lice, get his hooves trimmed & be on his way to becoming a healthy happy goat. He befriended me instantly & ever since we have been a bonded pair. He will come running to see me, rub his head on me & the first days home he wouldn't eat his fresh hay unless I was by his side. Not wanting him to be alone & needing to give him a proper place to stay until we get his fence & house built, we decided to put him in our yard with our girls (2 dogs) whom he adjusted too immediately. He sleeps on their beds, naps in the sun, plays oh so gently with the younger one, eats treats with them & seems to thoroughly enjoy their company. But... he is a goat, a big one at that, & he needs the proper space & housing with some fellow goat friends to live the perfect goat life.

We moved from the city 2 years ago with the desire to have some land and be in a place that allowed us to rescue more animals. Our first addition to the family after moving was a special needs potbelly pig named Squidward. We since have adopted another potbelly, Squid's best friend, Primo, along with 3 rescued ducks, a rooster, a hen, 2 cats, and of course now Chino, the goat. I've spent the last few years trying to learn as much as I can about what it takes to have a proper Sanctuary of my own. I've done internships, volunteered, attended an animal Care Conference and have learned so much from my wonderful vet and amazing friends that give top quality animal care at other Sanctuaries. Until now, we have self funded everything from a second well (for an extra water source), well ventilated housing w/heating & fans for cooling, predator proof fencing, organic food & treats, multiple medications, laser therapy sessions, routine vet appointments, hay, straw, pellets & all the miscellaneous items. We've enjoyed having all these additions to our family and now it seems Chino is the spark to start our fire and the encouragement we need to move forward with the next step in creating our own Sanctuary, Ridge 2 River Animal Haven. Where no animal will live alone. Where they will forever be safe, loved, provided proper medical care & given the individualized attention they deserve.

We are asking you to please help us in our next goal, building Chino a house & fence which will help in the launching of our Sanctuary, transitioning it from a dream to reality.

We reuse & recycle materials as much as possible. We also do the majority of our own work, cutting down on expenses.

For the fence we need:
500' of fencing
55- 4x4x8
8 - 4x4x10
155 - 2x6x8
2 - 6x6x8
1 - 8' metal gate w/latch

Plus housing

Our vision for the future:
Ridge 2 River Animal Haven will be a place for humans to learn about and experience animals, their connections to us and the world we live in, which is so vital for our survival. A beautiful, peaceful, natural setting, where we can connect with nature and animals to learn how everything we do and every dollar we spend is making an impact. It is a place to bring community together, focusing on our similarities not our differences. A place to remember and practice those things that are most important; our health, compassion, awareness and respect for ourselves and the world around us. No matter who we are or what we do, we are making an impact in everything that we do.

Ridge to River is a place where animals will always have at least one companion, making 2. Incorporating everything from the Ridge to the River.
Humans and non-human animals alike, we can't thank you enough for helping Ridge 2 River become reality.

Thank you.
