Chino says… “no rush”

After a weekend with lots of rain, which was wonderful & we needed it, we are back to beautiful sunny warm days. My Dad & Barb were visiting this weekend and Dad was pretty determined to get the fence done before they left, which we did get LOTS done, but its not quite finished to his chagrin. It was just too wet to be working too much this weekend, but the sagebrush, trees, and fresh rain smelled so wonderful.
We got most of the metal fencing up and almost all the top row of boards, which will be the most difficult. The other boards should go fairly quickly.
I have also started my search for a suitable friend for Chino and am actively looking for another goat to rescue or adopt.
Chino in the meantime is patiently waiting. He is getting fairly settled into his routine in the backyard and seems quite comfortable. He helped Eric and my Dad fix our front gate that he may have jarred a bit. : / Our fence was not designed for a large goat, but it mostly seems to be holding up fine. Now, that the weather is warmer his bed of choice is the dog bed on the back porch at night, instead of his straw. I'm starting to wonder if I am going to need to purchase him his own dog bed for the pasture....it is seeming like he may prefer that. ;)
We continue to have our morning and evening "dinings", when I sit with him while he eats his breakfast and dinner hay. He has gained some much needed weight back & is looking quite healthy these days. He continues to choose to lay on the side of the house where he can hear or see us best, gently chewing is cud or napping in the sunshine. Once in a while he ventures up the hill to browse on some trees, shrubs, and other tasty items he may find. He just finished his breakfast and came back over to lay next to me on the dog bed, snuggling his face in to me while I rub his cheeks. He is the sweetest boy and we love him so much!
Thank you again to everyone who has made it possible to build him the proper home, which has made it possible to keep him as a part of our family. As I have said before it is difficult to put into words how grateful we feel to have the encouragement and support from all of you. We just can't Thank YOU enough.
