Arctic Temps to Powder Dump
It’s been colder than normal this past week, as an Arctic air mass shifted South. We’ve been just above or hovering around zero at night and lucky to get to the low teens by the end of the day. All our residents are excited to come out in the morning and forage about, but after a few seconds they look at me & run back into their cozy warm houses, until the afternoon when they brave some time outside. We've been keeping everyone happy with extra treats this week and items for enrichment, warm water at least twice a day, warm meals for the pigs & extra food for everyone else. They all have a heat source & we moved a few into the house whom we couldn’t keep cozy enough in their barn.
I had some amazing extra volunteer help this week from Gwen on her Winter break and Whitney putting in an extra day. So helpful to have extra hands and companionship on the hard days. helping clean and making sure everyone is content and getting all their needs met! Thank you ladies!!
